The Associated Press is reporting that the new Blackberry phone, the Blackberry Bold, is coming to North America within a month. RIM, the maker of the Blackberry Bold has already begun selling the smartphone in Germany and Chile.
The Blackberry Bold was expected to be available this summer but issues with chips and battery life apparently caused the delay. AT&T will be the exclusive carrier of the Bold but the company has declined to say when the phone will be available.
The BlackBerry Bold is the first major new Blackberry model in over a year. The high-end BlackBerry Bold has twice the screen resolution of current Blackberry models and matches the resolution, but not the size, of the screen on Apple's iPhone. The Bold has a glossy metallic look and adds Wi-Fi capabilities to third-generation cellular and Bluetooth radios. It retains the footprint of the Curve, with a horizontal screen above a trackball and a keyboard with one letter per key.
Speculation is that the Blackberry Bold will cost about $200 depending on the calling plan.
